Description
Description
The Open Response Assessment editor has accessibility and visual layout issues in the Settings tab.
First, the helper descriptions below the settings fields appear very muted / low contrast, making them difficult to read against the modal background.
Second, the expand button overlaps with, or appears too close to, the Settings tab in the modal header. The button still works, but its position makes the tab area look visually broken and may make the Settings tab harder to read or interact with.
Here's a screenshot from the Verawood sandbox:
How to reproduce
- Go to Course Authoring.
- Open a course unit that contains an Open Response Assessment component.
- Open the ORA component editor.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Review the helper text below the settings fields.
- Review the top-right area of the modal header, near the Settings tab and expand button.

Research direction
Start in Course Authoring by opening an Open Response Assessment component editor and reviewing the Settings tab. Locate the helper descriptions and the modal header's expand button, then verify that the helper text has sufficient contrast and the button no longer overlaps or crowds the tab.
