Description

I am using the ChatGPT Windows desktop app with an active ChatGPT Plus subscription.

Problem:
The top-left “ChatGPT ▾” menu does not open when clicked. Because the menu does not open, I cannot select or access Codex in the desktop app.

What I have already tried:

Checked for ChatGPT app updates
Used Windows Repair
Fully terminated ChatGPT and all background processes via Task Manager
Reset/troubleshot the app
Completely uninstalled ChatGPT
Performed a clean reinstall of the official ChatGPT app from the Microsoft Store
Completed the “Finish Windows setup to continue” step after reinstalling

The problem remains unchanged after the clean reinstall.

System information:
Windows 11 Home, version 25H2
OS Build: 26200.9457
ChatGPT app version: 26.915.4065.0

Additional context:
Work is available in the desktop app, but I currently do not have an “Open local folder” / Work Local option. OpenAI Support has told me that Work Local may roll out separately, so the primary bug I am reporting here is that the ChatGPT dropdown itself does not open, preventing access to Codex.

I submitted in-app feedback with diagnostic logs as instructed by OpenAI Support.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in the ChatGPT Windows desktop app version 26.915.4065.0 on Windows 11 25H2, then inspect the entry point for the top-left “ChatGPT” dropdown. Done means the menu opens reliably and allows Codex to be selected; the issue mentions no repository files or tests.
