Description
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
ChatGPT 26.911.61220 (build 9647); bundle ID com.openai.codex
What subscription do you have?
Not disclosed; observed in the Pro plan selector with 5x selected and 20x disabled.
What platform is your computer?
macOS 27.0 (26A428); uname -mprs: Darwin 27.0.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
In the ChatGPT desktop app's Pro plan selector, the disabled 20x option displays the message ‘The 20X plan is temporarily unavailable for purchase’.
The message extends beyond the right edge of the blue plan card and overlaps the smaller pricing text beneath it. Both the notice and pricing details become harder to read. Dark appearance and pound-denominated pricing are visible in the supplied screenshot.
The pause on new 20x purchases is expected; this report concerns the layout of the notice.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Observed in the desktop app's Pro plan selector with 5x selected and 20x disabled while purchases are paused. Inspect the unavailability notice shown in the screenshot.
This report is based on a user-observed screenshot and static inspection of the installed app, not a separate live reproduction. The precise pointer/focus state, viewport dimensions and zoom level at capture are unknown. Suggested checks: disabled-option hover/focus, narrow window sizes and increased zoom/text sizing.
What is the expected behavior?
The full notice should remain readable, fit within the plan card or a correctly positioned tooltip, and avoid obscuring pricing details. If shown as an overlay, its background and spacing should keep both layers legible.
Additional information
Reported on 18 September 2026. The app is branded ChatGPT; static metadata identifies com.openai.codex / openai-codex-electron. The installed app's feedback component links directly to this repository's Codex App Bug form.
Static inspection found explicit Pro 20x purchase-pause handling, but did not locate the exact displayed notice in the bundled text assets. The cause of the overflow has therefore not been established; no specific CSS or implementation diagnosis is claimed.
The attached screenshot is cropped to 514 × 300 pixels; those are image dimensions, not the application viewport.

Research direction
Start with the desktop app’s Pro plan selector and the explicit Pro 20x purchase-pause handling identified by static inspection; the exact notice text was not located in bundled assets. Check the disabled 20x option at narrow widths, increased zoom or text sizing, and hover or focus states. Done when the full notice and pricing remain readable without overflow or overlap.
