Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

ChatGPT desktop app bundle 26.908.70816; About Codex version unavailable

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 24.2.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

After a standalone scheduled task completes, its newly created chat does not appear near the top of the corresponding project chat list. It is often far below older chats, requiring substantial scrolling to find it. The run is accessible from Scheduled. This has happened repeatedly, according to the user. No error message is shown.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
  1. In the macOS Codex desktop app, create a standalone scheduled task associated with a local project that already has many chats.
  2. Allow the task to run and complete.
  3. Open the project in the sidebar and look for the chat created by that run.
  4. Compare its position with older project chats; the new scheduled-run chat appears far down the list.
  5. The same run can be found via Scheduled.

The exact chat filter and session ID are not available in this report. This is a user-observed recurring issue, not a locally reproduced test.

What is the expected behavior?

A chat created by the latest scheduled run should be visible near the top when project chats are shown in chronological/recent-first order. If scheduled-run chats intentionally follow a different ordering rule, the UI should make that rule explicit and provide a direct way to locate the latest run within its project.

Additional information

Related general sidebar-ordering request: https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/45283. This report focuses on standalone scheduled-task chats in a project. Project and scheduled-task names are omitted for privacy. App version above was read from the installed ChatGPT.app bundle, not the About Codex dialog. Subscription is unknown.

Research direction

Start in the macOS desktop app’s project chat sidebar and the Scheduled-run chat creation path, using the listed reproduction steps to inspect ordering. Compare the behavior with the related sidebar-ordering issue (#45283). Done means the latest scheduled-run chat appears near the top, or its ordering rule and a direct way to locate it are explicit.
