Description
What variant of Codex are you using?
Codex desktop app on Windows.
What feature would you like to see?
Please bring Record & Replay to Windows, with the same integrated demonstration-to-skill workflow currently documented for macOS:
- Start recording from within the desktop app, with explicit recording consent and visible start/stop controls.
- Demonstrate a workflow across browser and Windows applications.
- Have Codex turn the demonstration into an editable, reusable skill that identifies inputs, steps, and success checks.
- Ask Codex to run that skill later with different inputs, using the tools available in the current environment.
My goal is to teach Codex a recurring workflow by showing it once, rather than manually documenting every step or maintaining a separate automation tool. The resulting skill should capture the procedure and variable inputs, not merely replay fixed click coordinates.
Additional information
The official guide currently lists Record & Replay as available on macOS: https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/extend/record-and-replay
Existing Windows alternatives cover only parts of this experience: desktop automation tools can record and execute scripts, while documentation tools can generate step-by-step guides that must then be adapted into a Codex skill. An integrated Windows workflow would remove that extra setup and handoff.
Could the team consider Windows support and, if possible, clarify whether it is planned? A supported preview or a documented initial scope would also be useful.
This is a feature request, not a report of a broken macOS feature. Drafted and submitted with Codex assistance at my request.

Research direction
Start with the linked Record & Replay guide for the existing macOS workflow, then inspect how the Windows desktop app currently handles recording and skill execution. Define an initial Windows scope covering consent, visible controls, cross-application demonstrations, editable skills, variable inputs, and success checks; done means that workflow is supported and documented.
