Description
Summary
In ChatGPT Work on Android, the Cloud Browser settings page is available and the default website permission is set to Automatically approve, but the current Work conversation cannot use an interactive cloud browser.
When asked to check its available capabilities, the assistant reported that it could search the web and read pages, but that no cloud-browser control tool was available in the session. This is an assistant-reported observation, not an independently verified backend diagnosis.
Environment
- ChatGPT native Android app
- ChatGPT Plus
- Cloud Browser settings visible
- Default website permission: Automatically approve
- No individual website rules shown in the settings screenshot
Observed sequence
- Open Settings → Cloud Browser in the Android app.
- Confirm that the default website permission is Automatically approve.
- In a Work conversation, ask about using the cloud browser and have the assistant check its available browser tools.
- The assistant reports that web search/page-reading tools are available, but interactive cloud-browser tools are not.
Expected behavior
For an eligible Work task, the interactive cloud browser should be available when needed, or the app should clearly explain why it is unavailable in that conversation despite the settings being present.
Actual behavior
The settings are present, but the current conversation reports no browser-control capability. There is no actionable explanation in the settings page.
Scope and limitations
- Reproduction in a fresh Work conversation has been suggested but has not yet been confirmed.
- Cross-client testing has not yet been performed.
- No CDP timeout or browser-tab creation error has been observed in this case, because no browser-control tool was available to attempt those operations.
- It is not yet clear whether this is expected availability/rollout behavior, a session tool-exposure issue, or another problem.
Related reports
- #38357 — Cloud Browser settings present with Automatically approve, but blank-tab creation times out. Similar settings, different observed failure stage.
- #37539 — A Cloud Browser tab is created but the browser UI does not appear.
- #41837 — Cloud Browser does not open in ChatGPT Work for Windows.
Could you check Cloud Browser availability and tool exposure for Work conversations on Android, and clarify whether there is a supported recovery step? If this belongs in a different support channel, please point me to the appropriate one.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the report in a fresh Work conversation on the Android app, checking Cloud Browser settings and whether browser-control tools are exposed. Compare the conversation behavior with another client if possible; cross-client testing has not yet been performed. Done means establishing whether this is expected rollout behavior, a session tool-exposure issue, or another problem, and documenting any supported recovery step or support channel.
