Description
Environment
- ChatGPT Android app 1.2026.251 (build 2625105)
- Android 17
- Plus
- Live voice mode
Issue
A custom instruction saved under ChatGPT Personalization is followed in some Live sessions but not in others. In an affected session, alluding to the same instruction can cause Live to follow it.
Steps to reproduce
- Save a persistent behavioral or stylistic custom instruction under Personalization.
- Start a new Live voice conversation.
- Interact without restating the saved instruction.
- Observe whether Live follows it.
- If it does not, restate the same instruction manually during the Live session.
- Observe that the requested behavior may begin immediately.
Expected behavior
Custom instructions configured under Personalization should be consistently available to ChatGPT Live at the start of a conversation, subject to normal instruction hierarchy and model limitations.
Actual behavior
Application is inconsistent across separate Live sessions. In affected sessions, the saved instruction is not reflected until it is repeated manually.
Observed September 12, 2026.

Research direction
No repository file or test is identified; start by reproducing the issue in the Android app's Live voice mode with a saved Personalization instruction, then compare sessions where it is and is not applied. Done means establishing a repository-relevant entry point and a reproducible test showing that the instruction is consistently available at the start of Live conversations.
