Description
Feature request
Please ship the official Codex/ChatGPT Linux desktop app as a Flatpak and publish it on Flathub.
Why
Flatpak and Flathub are distro-neutral and integrate with common software centers, making one package usable across Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, Arch-derived systems, and others. They would also make routine updates visible and easy for users.
Concrete failure this would prevent
On Fedora, the installed official RPM remained on version 26.825.41651 while 26.903.61454 was already available in the OpenAI repository. Because the bundled Codex client was stale, the server returned a compatibility model catalog without GPT-6 Astra. This looked like an account-entitlement problem and required manual investigation of the RPM version, client version, model cache, and server catalog.
A Flathub release with normal Flatpak updates would reduce stale-client and model-catalog incidents and support burden, while giving OpenAI one cross-distribution Linux package to maintain.
Requested outcome
- Publish an official Flatpak maintained by OpenAI on Flathub.
- Enable automatic update delivery through standard Flatpak and software-center workflows.
- Keep existing native packages if desired, but treat Flatpak as a first-class Linux distribution channel.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First verify whether this repository contains the official Linux desktop app and an existing packaging or release workflow, then assess the requirements for an official Flathub publication. Done means an OpenAI-maintained Flatpak is published on Flathub with standard update delivery while native packages remain available.
