Description

Feature request

Please officially support the OpenAI Computer Use plugin in the native Windows Codex CLI.

I use Codex CLI on Windows and want to use the official Computer Use plugin directly from the terminal to inspect the screen and operate Windows applications with mouse and keyboard actions. Please make this a documented, supported Windows CLI capability.

Requested behavior

  • Allow the official Computer Use plugin to be installed, enabled, and used from native Windows Codex CLI sessions.
  • Support screenshots, Windows application interaction, and mouse/keyboard actions with appropriate user permissions.
  • Document the supported setup, prerequisites, and permission flow for Windows CLI users.
  • Provide clear diagnostics when required components are missing or unavailable.

Expected outcome

A user with an officially installed Windows Codex CLI can follow documented setup steps and use the official Computer Use plugin from a terminal session.

Environment

  • Native Windows, PowerShell
  • Codex CLI 0.154.0

Related report

#30685 reports Computer Use being unavailable on Windows, including the CLI. This issue requests explicit, documented product support for the official Computer Use plugin in the native Windows CLI.

Research direction

Start with native Windows Codex CLI sessions in the PowerShell environment and investigate how the official Computer Use plugin is installed, enabled, and exposed. Define the supported setup, prerequisites, permission flow, and diagnostics for screenshots and Windows mouse/keyboard interaction; completion means documented, working support for the requested CLI workflow.
