What issue are you seeing?
The Codex VS Code extension is installed and enabled, but the Codex chat panel/view is not showing.
I tried:
- Opening Codex from the Command Palette
Developer: Reload Window- Checking the Activity Bar / secondary sidebar
None of these restored/opened the Codex chat UI.
Environment
- Platform: macOS (Apple Silicon)
- IDE: VS Code
- Extension:
openai.chatgpt - Extension version:
26.901.22334 - Extension was updated on 2026-09-08
- Extension page shows it as installed/enabled
Expected behavior
The Codex chat panel should be available/openable from VS Code after the extension is installed and enabled.
Actual behavior
The extension is present and enabled, but the Codex chat panel/view does not appear or open.

This was observed immediately after/around the latest extension update. A screenshot is available showing the installed extension and version.
