Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

ChatGPT Plus

What subscription do you have?

yes

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.6.0 x86_64

What issue are you seeing?

WHAT ISSUE ARE YOU SEEING?

Computer Use is installed and enabled, but the managed native-app service fails to start. Browser control works, but the native apps list is empty and Codex cannot access Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta).

The application log reports:

Failed to spawn managed Computer Use service

Restarting the ChatGPT/Codex desktop app and restarting the Mac did not resolve the problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE BUG

  1. Launch the ChatGPT desktop app and select Codex.
  2. Start a local Codex task.
  3. Ask Codex to use Computer Use with Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta).
  4. Computer Use initializes, but no native applications are available.
  5. Check the application log. It reports “Failed to spawn managed Computer Use service.”
  6. Restart the app and the Mac.
  7. Try again. The same failure occurs.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The managed Computer Use service should start successfully. Codex should detect native macOS applications, request permission to access Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta), and allow the user to approve or deny that access.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the failure in the Codex desktop app on macOS and inspect the application log for the managed Computer Use service spawn error. The payload names no source file or test, so trace the service startup path from that log entry; done means the service starts, native applications are detected, and access to Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta) can be approved or denied.
