Description

What variant of Codex are you using?

Codex desktop app on Windows, built-in browser.

What feature would you like to see?

Please add native full-page translation to the built-in browser, similar to Google Chrome's Translate feature.

When reading a foreign-language webpage inside Codex, users should be able to translate the page directly in place without switching to another browser or reading a separate translation in the chat.

Suggested behavior:

  • A Translate button in the browser toolbar or context menu.
  • Automatic detection of the page language and a target-language selector, including Simplified Chinese.
  • Translation that preserves the page layout, links, and images.
  • An easy toggle to restore the original text.
  • Optional preferences to always translate a particular language.
Additional information

The request comes from a Chinese-speaking user who wants the same convenient webpage-reading experience available in Chrome while staying inside Codex. A chat translation can help with the content, but does not provide the same in-page reading experience. Native translation would make the built-in browser more useful for reading documentation and other foreign-language websites.

Original request: 希望在 Codex 内置浏览器中添加类似 Chrome 的网页翻译功能。

Research direction

The issue does not identify any files, tests, or implementation entry points. Start by locating the Codex desktop app's built-in browser integration and determine whether translation services and toolbar or context-menu actions are already supported; done means in-page translation, language selection, layout preservation, and restoration of the original text.
