Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.901.51231

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11 Pro, 64-bit, build 26200 (25H2)

What issue are you seeing?

Summary: One cloud Project is present and fully accessible on chatgpt.com and in ChatGPT Classic, but it does not appear in the Projects section of the new Windows ChatGPT app. Other Projects display normally.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • App: ChatGPT Windows app
  • Version: 26.901.51231 (released 5 Sept 2026; “Powered by Codex & OWL”)
  • Also installed: ChatGPT Classic

Affected Project:

One specific cloud Project is affected. Its name and identifiers have been removed from this public issue for privacy. I can provide the Project ID privately to an OpenAI maintainer/support representative if required.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the ChatGPT Windows app → ChatGPT → Chat.
  2. Look under Projects in the left sidebar.

Expected: the affected Project appears in Projects, as it does on the web and in Classic.

Actual: the affected Project is missing from the Windows app Projects list while other Projects appear normally.

What I tried:

  • Verified the Project exists and opens normally on the web.
  • Changed sort/filter settings.
  • Renamed the Project.
  • Pinned and unpinned it.
  • Unarchived/restored related chats.
  • Restarted the app and PC.
  • Signed out and back in.
  • Repaired, reset and reinstalled the Windows app.
  • Cleared only the cached sidebar Project list and allowed it to regenerate.
  • Tested a plain-ASCII Project name.
  • Created another cloud Project, which appeared normally.
  • Tested both ChatGPT and Work modes.

The failure appears specific to the affected Project's metadata/state rather than a general Project-list capacity or naming issue.

The affected Project remains:

  • accessible on Web and Classic;
  • present in local Project state;
  • referenced by local thread/Project state;
  • omitted only from the new Windows app Project listing.

Please compare the affected Project's server-side metadata/state with a working cloud Project.

Exact Project identifiers and the feedback identifier can be supplied privately to OpenAI if needed.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

See above. Feedback details available privately to OpenAI if required.

What is the expected behavior?

The affected Project should appear in the Windows app Projects list, matching Web and Classic.

Additional information

No additional public identifiers provided.

Research direction

No repository files, tests, or code entry points are named. Start by reproducing the missing Project in the Windows ChatGPT app and comparing it with Web and Classic, then inspect the affected Project's server-side metadata using the private identifiers; done means it appears in the Windows app Projects list like the working Projects.
