What issue are you seeing?
Bug: Android Remote shows an active session but provides no way to reopen desktop conversations
After closing a working remote view, ChatGPT on Android still listed my Windows PC under Remote settings as “Active remote session,” with the toggle enabled. However, there was no Remote entry or Connect button to access my Codex conversations. Toggling the connection off and on did not help. Google Play showed no available update.
Workaround: I selected Add a device on my phone, selected Add a device on the desktop to generate a new QR code, then scanned it to link them again. This restored access.
Expected: An existing paired computer should have a clear Reconnect/Open action without repeating device setup.
UX suggestion: Add “Connect to remote device” to the desktop’s Explore menu or nearby controls, and a clearly visible Remote menu on mobile. The desktop action should display a QR code that the mobile Remote menu can scan.
Observed September 5, 2026, using Android and Windows. Exact app versions were not recorded.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
If I close My remote connected chat window inside of my android phone, there is no way for me to re establish that connection. I don't see my chats from my Codex desktop in my ChatGPT app and there is nothing in the ChatGPT App that allows me to reconnect without re-Pairing my phone by going to the connections remote menu on my desktop and the remote settings in my ChatGPT app.
What is the expected behavior?
I actually expect that I would be able to see my project on Chatgpt application on my phone and justice click my project that I clearly see in my codex desktop app.

Research direction
Start with the desktop Connections remote menu and the Android ChatGPT Remote settings described in the report, including the Add a device flow. Trace how an existing active paired computer is represented after the remote chat closes. Done means a previously paired computer exposes a clear reconnect or open action without requiring re-pairing.
