Bring back the ChatGPT Classic Companion Window in the Codex app

What feature would you like to see?

I would like the Codex app for Windows to bring back the Companion Window experience from ChatGPT Classic.

What I am looking for is a simple, lightweight chat window that:

can be opened from anywhere using a global keyboard shortcut (for example Alt+N)
opens independently from the main Codex window
stays on top of other applications
can remain visible while working in Outlook, a browser, VS Code, PowerShell, etc.
provides a normal quick ChatGPT conversation without requiring a project or Codex workspace

The current Quick Chat in the Codex app is not an equivalent replacement. It initially opens inside the main application. It can be moved to a separate window, but that window goes into the background as soon as another application receives focus.

The Companion Window in ChatGPT Classic is much more useful for this workflow because it behaves like a persistent floating assistant.

This is currently one of the main reasons why I still keep both ChatGPT Classic and the Codex app installed.

I use the Codex app for the newer Codex/Work features, but I still need ChatGPT Classic solely for the Companion Window.

Ideally, the Codex app would completely replace ChatGPT Classic for me. A Companion-style Quick Chat with a configurable global shortcut and an optional Always on Top behavior would make that possible.

Since ChatGPT Classic appears to be the legacy application, I would especially like to see this workflow preserved in the newer Codex app before Classic is eventually retired.

Start by locating the Codex app for Windows Quick Chat entry point and reviewing how it handles window focus and shortcuts. Compare the requested behavior with the ChatGPT Classic Companion Window: a global shortcut, independent floating window, optional always-on-top behavior, and chat without a project or workspace.
