What issue are you seeing?
I am experiencing a recurring issue where conversations within my ChatGPT Projects are visible on one device but are missing from the same Project on other devices, even though all devices are logged into the same personal ChatGPT account.
Specific example
I have a Project named “Planner Ecosystem.”
Within that Project, I have a conversation titled:
“Explain common place journals”
On the ChatGPT desktop app on my work Mac, this conversation is visible in the Planner Ecosystem Project and I can still access/open it normally.
However:
The conversation is not visible in the Planner Ecosystem Project in the ChatGPT web app.
The conversation is not visible in the Planner Ecosystem Project in the ChatGPT iPhone app.
I used global chat search in the web app and searched for the exact conversation title, “Explain common place journals.” The search returned no results.
I checked Archived Chats, and the conversation is not archived.
I have not deleted the conversation.
I confirmed this is not an account mismatch
Initially, I considered whether the work computer might have been authenticated to a different account because the interface displayed my full name in one location and my username in another.
I checked the Account settings on the work computer and confirmed that it is logged into the same personal ChatGPT account that I use on my personal devices. The account settings show my personal Gmail account and my username @vjs7226.
Therefore, the conversation is being displayed differently across clients while authenticated to the same ChatGPT account.
This is a recurring problem, not an isolated missing conversation
This particular conversation is a clear example that I can document, but I have recently experienced this problem multiple times with different conversations.
Conversations that I know exist within Projects sometimes appear on one device/client but are missing from another. This is occurring frequently enough that it is interfering with my ability to reliably use Projects across devices.
Previously, my ChatGPT conversations and Projects appeared consistently across my devices. I did not experience this type of discrepancy with this frequency in the past.
Current behavior
For the example conversation:
ChatGPT desktop app on work Mac:
Planner Ecosystem → “Explain common place journals” = VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE
ChatGPT web app:
Planner Ecosystem → “Explain common place journals” = MISSING
ChatGPT iPhone app:
Planner Ecosystem → “Explain common place journals” = MISSING
Global ChatGPT search on web:
Search for “Explain common place journals” = NO RESULTS
Archived Chats:
“Explain common place journals” = NOT PRESENT
Troubleshooting/verification already performed
Confirmed that the conversation still exists and can be accessed on the work Mac.
Confirmed that the work Mac is logged into my personal ChatGPT account.
Confirmed that the web app is logged into the same personal account.
Checked the Planner Ecosystem Project directly in the web app.
Checked the Planner Ecosystem Project on iPhone.
Used global chat search for the exact conversation title.
Checked Archived Chats.
Confirmed that I did not intentionally delete or archive the conversation.
I have deliberately not moved, renamed, archived, or deleted the affected conversation on the Mac where it remains visible, because I want to preserve the current state in case it is useful for troubleshooting.
Why I am reporting this
My primary concern is not recovery of this single conversation because I can currently still access this particular conversation from one computer.
My concern is the recurring inconsistency in conversation/Project synchronization or indexing across ChatGPT clients.
Because global search also fails to locate a conversation that remains accessible on another client using the same account, this appears to be more than simply the sidebar failing to display an older conversation.
I rely heavily on ChatGPT Projects to organize ongoing conversations, so I need to know that conversations stored within a Project will remain consistently accessible across the desktop app, web app, and iPhone app.
Request
Please investigate whether there is a Project conversation synchronization, indexing, or account-history retrieval issue affecting my account.
In particular, could you determine:
Why a conversation can remain accessible in a Project on one ChatGPT client while being absent from the same Project on other clients using the same account?
Why ChatGPT global search does not return the affected conversation even though the conversation still exists and can be opened on another client?
Whether other conversations associated with my account may currently be affected by the same synchronization/indexing problem.
Whether there are any troubleshooting or recovery steps I should take without risking the conversations that are still accessible on one device.
Whether this is related to a known issue involving Projects, conversation history, global search, or synchronization across desktop/web/mobile clients.
I can provide screenshots demonstrating the discrepancy and additional examples of affected conversations if needed.
What steps can reproduce the bug?

Research direction
The report describes a cross-client synchronization and search discrepancy in ChatGPT Projects, with evidence in the linked ChatGPT Screenshots.pdf and feedback ID no-active-thread-01a05fd5-35c5-7c03-8782-51caa3180f1d. Start by reviewing the report and attachment; the issue does not identify a Codex file, test, or reproducible repository entry point, so completion criteria are not defined.
