Description

The Codex CLI frontend enforces a hard network block when the 5h usage limit hits 0%, entirely ignoring the fact that gpt-reserve is at 100%. This gateway block traps the user, forcing them to use the "Reset Usage" feature.

When executing a reset to clear the 5h block, the backend ledger incorrectly handles a healthy weekly quota balance. Instead of refreshing or extending the cycle, the reset forcefully overwrote my untouched 84% weekly cushion, completely vaporized a 100% gpt-reserve pool, and advanced next weekly reset date forward—effectively forcing me to burn next week's quota.

Steps to Reproduce

• 1. Exhaust the 5h usage limit to 0% while retaining a high weekly balance (84% left) and an untouched reserve pool (100% left).

• 2. Attempt to force the reserve model via /model gpt-5.6-luna --reserve. Observe the gateway hard-blocking the input.

• 3. Trigger the "Reset Usage" function to clear the 5h freeze.

• 4. Run /status and observe that the remaining weekly cushion and reserve pools have been completely wiped and the billing cycle dates shifted forward.
