Description
Summary
If ChatGPT is launched while an external USB drive containing an existing Codex project is disconnected, reconnecting the drive does not refresh the project's folder state.
Steps to reproduce
- Store a Codex project on an external USB drive.
- Close ChatGPT and disconnect the drive.
- Launch ChatGPT.
- Reconnect the drive without restarting ChatGPT.
- Select the existing project and try to create a new task.
Actual result
The project and its existing tasks remain visible, but creating a new task fails with:
This project folder was deleted or moved
Expected result
ChatGPT should detect the reconnected drive and allow a new task without restarting.
Impact
Restarting is not practical while another task is running.
Environment
- App: 26.825.4187.0 (x64)
- OS: Windows 25H2, build 26200.9278
- Storage: External USB drive

Research direction
No source files or tests are named. Reproduce on Windows with a Codex project on a USB drive, disconnect it before launching ChatGPT, reconnect it, and attempt a new task; trace the project folder state refresh and consider the issue done when task creation succeeds without restarting the app.
