Description
Summary
The ChatGPT browser extension does not offer the Max reasoning option when the model is set to 5.6 Luna. The highest available option is Extra High.
Steps to reproduce
- Open ChatGPT through the browser extension.
- Select the 5.6 Luna model.
- Open the Reasoning/Effort selector.
- Review the available reasoning levels.
Actual behavior
The selector stops at Extra High. There is no Max option.
Expected behavior
The extension should expose the Max reasoning option for 5.6 Luna whenever that level is supported by the model and account.
Impact
This creates a capability mismatch between the model and the extension UI and prevents users from selecting the maximum available reasoning level.
Request
Please investigate urgently whether this is intentional or a UI/configuration bug, and restore the Max option if it is supported. This issue requires prompt attention from the ChatGPT extension/Codex interface teams.
Environment: ChatGPT browser extension in Chrome.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the missing option in the ChatGPT browser extension on Chrome with the 5.6 Luna model, then trace the Reasoning/Effort selector and its model or account configuration. Done means Max appears whenever the model and account support it, while unsupported cases retain the existing options.
