Description

What variant of Codex are you using?

App

What feature would you like to see?

When adding an MCP server through a custom marketplace (as opposed to adding it manually), there is currently no way to configure environment variables for that server. When MCP servers are added manually, environment variables can be set without issue

It would be great if the same configuration options — specifically environment variables — were available for MCP servers added via a custom marketplace, so behavior is consistent regardless of how the server was added

Research direction

Start by tracing how Codex Desktop handles MCP servers added through a custom marketplace, then compare that path with manual server configuration. The work is complete when marketplace-added servers expose equivalent environment-variable settings on Windows and the resulting configuration is verified.
