Description

Description

In the Codex desktop app, dictation appears to capture audio successfully—the input bar shows that it is receiving audio while I speak—but when I click Pause, the dictated text is not added to the prompt. The input becomes empty instead.

Environment

  • App: ChatGPT desktop app with Codex
  • App version: 26.818.41509 (build 6962)
  • Operating system: macOS 15.4.1 (build 24E263)
  • Machine: MacBook Pro (MacBookPro18,1), Apple M1 Pro, 16 GB memory

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start dictation in a Codex prompt.
  2. Speak while the audio indicator shows that input is being captured.
  3. Click Pause.

Expected behavior

The recorded speech should be transcribed into the prompt so it can be reviewed or sent.

Actual behavior

No transcription appears; the prompt is empty after pausing.

Impact

This has caused loss of dictated content and significant lost time.

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is named in the issue. Start by reproducing dictation in the Codex desktop app, checking both Pause and submission; done means captured speech is transcribed into the prompt without being lost.
