Research direction

No source file or test is named. Start by reproducing the crash on macOS 26.8xx.xxxxx, then compare the linked working v26.7xx.xxxxx and failing v26.8xx.xxxxx logs to identify the regression. Done means the updated app launches and runs normally without the reported crash.
