Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Latest Windows Codex app available as of August 20, 2026. Exact build number unknown.

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11

Phone: Android 17 / Samsung One UI 9

What issue are you seeing?

Codex Remote worked normally between my Windows PC and Android phone.

After I switched between my personal and work accounts, Remote stopped connecting. I have been unable to reconnect for more than two weeks.

The Windows app still shows my PC under Remote and shows the correct recent access time, but my Android phone never completes the connection.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
  1. Install Codex on Windows and Android.
  2. Set up Remote and connect successfully.
  3. Switch from one Codex account to another. In my case, I believe I switched the Windows app first.
  4. Switch the Android app to the same account.
  5. Try to reconnect to the Windows PC.
  6. The connection does not complete.
What is the expected behavior?

Once both devices are signed into the same account and Remote is enabled, the Android phone should connect to the Windows PC again.

Additional information

I have tried:

  • Logging out on Android
  • Logging out on Windows
  • Logging out on both devices
  • Switching both devices to the same account
  • Reinstalling the Android app
  • Removing Remote access on the PC
  • Removing the PC
  • Disabling and re-enabling the PC in the Android app
  • Setting up Remote again
  • Using a VPN
  • Turning the VPN off
  • Using Wi-Fi
  • Using LTE/mobile data

The only major thing I have not tried is reinstalling the Windows Codex app.

The problem started after switching between my personal and work accounts.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the account-switching sequence across the Windows Codex app and Android app, then compare it with related issues #23112 and #31786. Trace the Remote connection and account-session handling paths identified during reproduction; done means both devices signed into the same account can reconnect to the Windows PC after switching accounts.
