Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.814.41407

What subscription do you have?

Oracle Corporation (Enterprise version)

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 24.6.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

Whenever a new chat is initiated it picks up 5.6 Terra medium as the model. When clicked on model drop down and then 'reset to default' it picks up 5.6 Sol medium as the model. Next when a new chat is opened again then again 5.6 Terra is picked up.
I have checked in config.toml as well adn 5.6 Sol medium is the default model but still non-default model is chosen.
This is the case in both ChatGPT/Codex app and ChatGPT Work (web) as well.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Feedback ID: no-active-thread-01a01880-583e-7402-b7e8-d42439f55fd1

What is the expected behavior?

Expected behaviour is that the default model should be chosen whenever a new chat is initiated.

Research direction

Start by checking config.toml and the default-model handling used when a new chat is initiated in the ChatGPT/Codex app and ChatGPT Work. Reproduce the behavior with 5.6 Sol medium configured as the default and 5.6 Terra medium being selected; done when every new chat uses the configured default model.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.
