Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.814.41957

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.6.0 arm64 arm $

What issue are you seeing?

On macOS 26, the Codex app icon does not respect the system’s Tinted icon appearance.

When System Settings → Appearance → Icon & widget style → Tinted is enabled, other compatible application icons (including ChatGPT) adopt the selected tint, but Codex continues displaying its standard blue/purple icon on a white background.

This has persisted for approximately one month and across Codex updates.

I have also tried:

  • Quitting and relaunching Codex
  • Restarting the Dock
  • Refreshing the application bundle/icon cache
  • Changing macOS icon appearance away from Tinted and back

The behavior persists.

Expected: Codex should adopt the macOS Tinted icon treatment like other compatible macOS applications.

Actual: Codex retains its standard white-background icon regardless of the system Tinted appearance.

Screenshot attached showing Codex remaining untinted between applications that correctly adopt the system tint.

Research direction

Reproduce the issue in the Codex app on macOS 26 with System Settings → Appearance → Icon & widget style → Tinted enabled, then trace how the app icon is packaged and displayed. Done means the Codex icon adopts the selected macOS tint like compatible applications while retaining its normal appearance when Tinted is disabled.
