Description
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.803.10989.0
What subscription do you have?
Pllus
What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
Codex Desktop for Windows repeatedly flickers between the normal interface and a completely blank dark window.
The application frame remains visible, including the title bar and window controls, but all Codex content disappears. A few moments later, the interface returns, then disappears again. This cycle continues and makes the application unusable.
No error message is displayed.
Codex version: 26.803.10989.0 (x64)
Package: OpenAI.Codex_26.803.10989.0_x64__2p2nqsd0c76g0
I have attached a screen recording demonstrating the issue.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Launch Codex Desktop on Windows.
- Wait for the home interface to load.
- The interface becomes completely blank after a few moments.
- The interface reappears automatically.
- It continues switching between the normal and blank states repeatedly.
The problem occurs on the home screen, before starting a Codex session, so there is no relevant session ID, token usage, or context-window usage.
What is the expected behavior?
The Codex interface should remain visible and responsive after the application loads, without repeatedly disappearing or rendering a blank window.
Additional information
Troubleshooting already attempted:
- Fully terminated all Codex processes and restarted the application.
- Restarted Windows.
- Used Windows “Repair” and “Reset” for the application.
- Ran
Reset-AppxPackage. - Completely removed the OpenAI.Codex Appx package.
- Restarted Windows and reinstalled Codex from the Microsoft Store.
- Reset the Microsoft Store cache.
- Tested different Windows graphics-performance preferences.
- Reset the graphics driver using
Win + Ctrl + Shift + B.
None of these steps resolved the problem. The same behavior returned immediately after a clean reinstall.
The attached video shows that the native window remains open while the entire application content repeatedly disappears and returns, which may indicate a WebView/rendering or GPU-compositing issue.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the flicker from the Codex Desktop home screen on Windows 10.0.26200.0 with version 26.803.10989.0, then investigate the reported WebView/rendering or GPU-compositing behavior while comparing the native window frame with its content. Done means the home interface remains visible and responsive after launch.
