Research direction

Start by locating the Codex desktop app's sidebar hover-reveal behavior and its settings or toolbar entry point on Windows. Check how the existing Ctrl+B shortcut toggles the sidebar; done means a setting such as "Open sidebar on hover" disables pointer-triggered opening while toolbar and keyboard controls continue to work.

Description

app enhancement windows-os
Problem

In the Codex desktop app on Windows, the left sidebar reappears whenever the mouse pointer passes over the left edge after the sidebar has been hidden. This is easy to trigger accidentally and interrupts work.

Requested behavior

Please add a setting such as "Open sidebar on hover". When disabled, the sidebar should open only through the toolbar button or the keyboard shortcut (currently Ctrl+B on Windows).

Why this matters

Some users prefer a deliberate, keyboard- or click-only sidebar toggle. The current hover reveal makes it difficult to keep the sidebar out of the way while moving the mouse around the window.

Environment
  • Surface: Codex desktop app
  • OS: Windows
