Research direction
Start by reading the OpenTelemetry specification PR and the linked OpenTracing compatibility sections, then locate the existing OT Shim implementation in opentelemetry-python. Map each checklist item to the current implementation and determine how compatibility is verified. Done means all listed specification sections are addressed and the shim behaves consistently with the updated specification.
