Description

The OT Shim layer needs to be updated to include the latest changes as introduced by

Making OpenTelemetry Python compatible with OpenTracing means implementing several things.
As suggested by @lonewolf3739 here is a list of the specification sections needed:

Research direction

Start by reading the OpenTelemetry specification PR and the linked OpenTracing compatibility sections, then locate the existing OT Shim implementation in opentelemetry-python. Map each checklist item to the current implementation and determine how compatibility is verified. Done means all listed specification sections are addressed and the shim behaves consistently with the updated specification.
