Description
OTEP#265 lays out OpenTelemetry's vision for events, which includes a user facing logging API to emit events.
I proposed work in this direction, but it didn't get any traction:
- https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java-instrumentation/pull/15572
- https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java-examples/pull/954

Research direction
Start by reading OTEP#265, event-vision.md, then review the referenced Java SDK, instrumentation, and examples pull requests to understand the proposed direction. The issue does not define a concrete implementation target; done would require agreement on the user-facing event API scope and an accepted implementation plan.
