Description

In the original design, I planned to support more storage engines, such as:
A storage engine based on memory.
A storage engine based on disk with a B+ tree.

In fact, if we follow the model of MySQL, we may be able to support a storage engine based on disk with an LSM tree.

Research direction

The issue proposes memory, B+ tree, and LSM-tree storage engines but names no files, entry points, tests, or selected implementation target. Start by reviewing the existing storage-engine architecture and clarify which engine should be supported. Done should mean one agreed engine is implemented with coverage for its expected database behavior.
