Expected Behavior

The stream and recording should start and not crash OBS when websocket clients are connected.

Current Behavior

Shortly after starting the stream via websocket commands, OBS crashes.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. OBS is opened about an hour before streaming is to begin (although sometimes it is opened only shortly before starting to stream)
  2. Several websocket clients connect
  3. Streaming is started automatically via the websocket plugin
  4. About 15-20 seconds later OBS crashes

This crash is intermittent however and it doesn't always crash. Usually restarting OBS after the crash and starting streaming manually doesn't seem to cause the same crash.

Anything else we should know?

OBS sometimes crashes shortly after starting streaming and recording while two websocket connections are established. One of the connections is from Bitfocus Companion and the other is a custom Java application using the https://github.com/Twasi/websocket-obs-java/ library. This library is used to start streaming and it is usually shortly after this that the crash occurs.

This crash doesn't always occur, but does happen very frequently and happened in OBS Studio 27.0.0 as well as now in 27.0.1.

Research direction

Start with the linked OBS log and crash log, focusing on the obs-outputs.dll!rtmp_stream_congestion fault and the timing after websocket-triggered streaming starts. Reproduce with websocket clients connected while starting streaming and recording, then verify that the intermittent crash no longer occurs.
