Expected Behavior

The audio recording doesn't crackle

Current Behavior

The audio recording crackles a lot.

Basically this has been happening since I've switched to Linux one year ago, and it's still present in the latest version of OBS, 31.1.1

In the title I've said that this happens every "x" amount of minutes, because I don't know precisely how many minutes it takes to repeat the crackling, but it happens again after some minutes, so you end up with a recording full of crackling in the audio, making certain parts of the video not understandable.

Here are some videos that are affected by this issue, all of this videos are recorded on Linux, and these are just a tiny amount of videos where I've heard this issue appearing:

Brodie also made a post about this exact issue, as you can hear it in many of hist videos too

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked OBS log and the reported crackling timestamps in the example videos. Reproduce a recording with OBS Studio 31.1.1 on Fedora Linux, then compare the recording and log to determine what causes the recurring audio crackle. Done means the cause is identified and a fix or clearly verified diagnosis is available.
