Expected Behavior

I have been trying to get an mp3 file synced with my microphone so that my singing is in sync with the song. Using the offset to get it synced up with my mic. I will record a test and confirm that the audio has is actually in sync.

Current Behavior

With OBS open, using the sync offset does nothing. 750ms delay is that same as if it were 0ms when I record tests.

  • If I restart OBS and do not open the Advanced Audio window, the 750ms is applied and the recording is accurate and in sync with my mic.

  • If I restart OBS and DO open the Advanced Audio window, the number still says 750ms, but when I record my test, the audio is out of sync.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Have OBS open
  2. Add a sync offset in the advanced audio settings
  3. Record a test. The offset should be the same as 0ms no matter what you entered in.
  4. Close OBS
  5. Reopen obs, do not open the advanced audio window
  6. Record a test. The offset should now be applied.
  7. You can now open the advanced audio window. It will still show your sync offset number like before.
  8. Record another test. The offset will be back out of sync to 0ms.
Anything else we should know?

The mp3 file was started by hiding visibility, then unhiding it.

I did not scrub ahead on the timeline. I just let the file play from the start in all of my tests.

The offset sync seemed to be dependent on if I opened the advanced audio window after starting up OBS.

This also happens in version 30.

Research direction

No source file or test is named. Start by reproducing the issue using the listed OBS Studio versions and the provided log, following the eight-step sequence with an MP3 source and a 750 ms offset. Done means opening Advanced Audio Properties no longer changes the effective sync offset during recording, with regression coverage added if the relevant test area is found.
