OBS does not save recordings after changing to other profile

Expected Behavior

Recording files should appear in the path specified in the profile settings.

Current Behavior

After creating a new profile, recordings are not stored in the installation path or anywhere else.

Steps to Reproduce

0. Install OBS from scratch.
1. Set a default recording path in the default profile.
2. Start recording.
3. The recording is saved in the specified path.
4. Create a new profile or duplicate the old one (either option leads to the same result).
5. Set the recording path for this profile if not already set.
6. Start recording.
7. The recording is not saved in the specified path.

Anything else we should know?

Sometimes (rarely) when starting recording I get a message: Couldn't initialize muxer.

When I switch back to the original profile that was working before, it also does not work. It stops storing recordings. From then on, no recordings are stored in the specified path or anywhere else.

I have tried the same thing on four different installations, always with the same result:

Ubuntu 22 + OBS PPA installation
Ubuntu 22 + OBS flatpack installation
Ubuntu 24 + OBS PPA installation
Ubuntu 24 + OBS flatpack installation

Start by reviewing the linked OBS log and reproducing the recording failure after switching or duplicating profiles on Ubuntu. Compare the recording path and the reported “Couldn't initialize muxer” condition across profiles; done when recordings reliably appear at the configured path after profile changes.
