Expected Behavior
When you hover a text field (such as notepad) and Windows shows the 'caret cursor' then OBS should show it correctly on the video / stream.
Current Behavior
The cursor disappears on OBS stream / video / preview while hovering the text field.
Steps to Reproduce
- Make sure you use default cursor in windows (white) (see image)
- Make sure the default cursor size (1) (see image)
- Hover notepad, note how the you see the caret cursor on your screen but it is invisible inside OBS.
Anything else we should know?
Using any other cursor, such as the black or inverted cursor (see image), or a bigger cursor size (see image) makes the problem go away.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on Windows 10 with OBS Studio 30.1.2, the default white cursor at size 1, and a text input such as Notepad. Compare the caret cursor on screen with the OBS preview or stream; done means the caret is visible there without changing the cursor color or size.
