We should probably fallback to formatAuto when there is a collapsed domain.

Reproduce the collapsed-domain case with Plot.ruleX([5.5]).plot() and inspect the default tickFormat path. Compare the resulting label with formatAuto; done means the collapsed domain displays 5.5 with sufficient precision.
