Description
Proof of concept using render transforms:

Still to figure out:
- Use identity scale for x and y?
- Drag behavior
- Terminate the simulation on disconnect
- Smarter default forces?
- Using marks other than dot and link? (Separate transforms from marks, like we do for trees?)

Research direction
Start with the linked render-transform proof of concept and the Observable notebook to understand the current force-directed graph approach. The issue remains exploratory: completion would require deciding how to handle scales, dragging, disconnect termination, default forces, and support for marks beyond dots and links.
