The mandibular organ is an endocrine gland located at the base of the posterior adductor tendons of the mandible. The mandibular organ synthesizes and secretes methyl farnesoate, a juvenile hormone-related compound, playing an essential role in the regulation of growth and reproduction in crustaceans. It is negatively regulated by the eyestalk peptide hormone mandibular organ inhibiting hormone. PMID: 9783445, PMID: 36410448
