Description

'specialized hemal arch and spine’
http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/UBERON_2000859

This term is appearing in phenoscape’s inferred presence results, but it doesn’t seem to refer to a known structure in fishes. Seems it was created based on this document https://zfin.org/ZDB-PUB-011008-1 (see IIC. Specialized hemal arches and spines) where the phrase "specialized hemal arch and spines" is a heading for discussion of the specific structures ‘hypural’, ‘parhypural’, 'hypurapophyses/ parhypurapophyses’. Recommending we obsolete this and if any annotations exist, use the more specific terms.

Research direction

Start by reviewing ontology term UBERON_2000859 and the cited ZFIN document, especially section IIC. Search the ontology for annotations to this term and compare them with the specific hypural, parhypural, and hypurapophysis/parhypurapophysis terms. Done means the obsolete term is handled and any annotations use the appropriate specific terms.
