Description
Discord allows sorting individual channels into subfolders on a "server".
I think it should be possible to achieve a similar thing by adding tags as metadata to an IRC channel and have the client automatically sort channels on the same network by these tags in the sidebar.
As a side effect one could also allow searching channels by tag and join all of them together if they share a tag.
Good idea?

Research direction
The issue proposes IRC channel metadata tags, sidebar sorting, tag search, and joining all channels sharing a tag, but names no files or tests. Start by locating the channel sidebar and search entry points, then clarify the desired behavior and scope before implementation; done requires an agreed design and working support for the selected tag workflows.
