Description
If the parsing step fails or finds syntax errors, the CLI tooling should show an error (exit code 1). Ideally it should let the user know which character the parsing failed / stopped at.

Research direction
Start by locating the CLI parsing step and reproduce the behavior with malformed or unparseable input. Done means syntax failures produce an error, exit with code 1, and ideally identify the character where parsing stopped.
