Research direction

Begin by locating the resolver and typechecker passes and reading their implementations and tests to understand their boundaries. Compare the current pass structure and measure performance before deciding whether a combined semantic-analysis pass is feasible. Done requires a defined design and an agreed implementation plan, but the issue does not specify acceptance criteria.
