Research direction
Locate the implementations and call sites for getValidatedPath, getValidMode, and path.toNamespacedPath, then read the surrounding filesystem utilities and existing performance tests or benchmarks. The work is done when these operations are moved to C++ without changing their behavior and the relevant performance measurements show the intended improvement.
