Description

For weight / mass I referenced the use of the International System of Units which has mass in kg. Consequently, lengths should then be reported in meters, which is not standard for fisheries. Are we bold enough to go there? And if so, can we get away with metric ton for catches? It is okay to use metric ton for catches and landings because it is a summary metric versus measuring an individual fish?

Research direction

The issue names no file, test, or entry point. First resolve whether mass, length, catches, and landings should use SI or metric units, then identify where the fisheries dictionary defines these units. Done means an agreed and documented unit policy.
