Description
Should we change things like $F_{MSY}$ to FMSY, i.e., change the subscript notation to just be all upper case letters? Figure legends and axes labels would be much easier 😄 Not sure what is standard in mathematical notation though and why we use subscripts currently. I emailed a mathematics professor at the University of Utah who is very well versed in notation and bi-lingual to get his take on it as well.

Research direction
No files, tests, or entry points are named. First review the current handling of subscripts such as F_{MSY} in figure legends and axis labels, then consult the proposed mathematical-notation guidance. Done means deciding whether acronym subscripts should become uppercase text and documenting the agreed convention.
