Description

Describe the bug
After failing to be able to install Npcap 1.80 I now have a broken installation of Npcap. I tried to uninstall the Npcap Packet Driver on my network card, but this failed with the same error code I also got during the failed installation of Npcap 1.80.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to adapter settings
  2. Right-Click on your network adapter and click on "properties"
  3. From the list "this connection uses the following elements" select Npcap Packet Driver
  4. On the bottom choose "Uninstall"
  5. Uninstall fails with error 0x8007007E, see Screenshot

Expected behavior
Uninstall of Npcap Driver

Diagnostic information

  • Windows version Win 10 Pro 22Hs Build 19045.5011
  • Output of DiagReport: none, as application is uninstalled
  • Installation log: install.log

Additional context
Additionaly, since the failed Install, I get a BSOD with error "KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION" on startup if I login before the network connection is established. Also, before this the network connection was always established quite fast on startup, now it takes longer.

Start by reviewing the attached install.log and reproducing the uninstall from the adapter properties described in the issue. Investigate the 0x8007007E failure and verify that the Npcap Packet Driver can be uninstalled successfully without the reported startup symptoms.
