Description

some of us don't use System Restore (we've got Horizon Datasys Rollback installed) so the installation hangs for several minutes while it insists on trying to create a Restore point.

The installation then failed with a couple of errors. I doubt they were connected but below are the last few lines (including the first failure) of the installation log. I suspect that the failure was a rights issue caused by a tussle between Windoze and, possibly Zonealarm. I'll try again in Safe mode with admin rights

Npcap WFP callout driver has been successfully installed!
Unknown error! 8e5e0408
Npcap LWF driver has failed to be installed.
Failed to create the npcap service for Win7, Win8 and Win10

Research direction

Start with the installation log, especially the System Restore attempt and the Npcap WFP/LWF driver and service failures reported for Windows 7, 8, and 10. Reproduce the installation issue with and without System Restore or conflicting security software, then confirm that installation completes without hanging or failing to create the Npcap service.
