Description

Hello,

I recently installed Wireshark and therefore installed Npcap (v1.00) too.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with Npcap and its Npcap Packet Driver.
On every restart after using Wireshark with Npcap, Windows can’t connect via Ethernet.
This is only resolved by disabling and enabling the ethernet network adapter.

This issue did not occur when disabling the Npcap Packet Driver in the network adapter properties, but this (obviously) prevents me from using Wireshark properly.

A reinstall of Npcap did not help either.

This issue is not limited to one machine, it occurred on a different pc as well.

Here are some diagnostic reports:

Situation after restart, no network/internet connection:

Situation after disabling and reenabling the ethernet network adapter:

Research direction

Start by comparing the two linked diagnostic reports and reproducing the restart behavior with Npcap enabled. Done means Ethernet connectivity returns after restarting Windows without disabling and re-enabling the network adapter.
