Description

as reported by @ericfischereu via chat

It is not possible to filter for empty values in selection fields (funnily for yes/not it's possible but not needed, since there's always a default). Current workaround: set a default value and filter for that, but that's not obvious in my eyes.

This sounds like something that should be rather easy to implement

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start by reproducing the filter view with a selection field containing an empty value, then trace the selection-field filter handling. Done means users can explicitly filter for empty selection values without setting a default first.
