Description

In the planing meeting the question/idea came up if it would be possible to "magically" pick the right audio device.

Suggested idea was something like:

  • Have a button "Select device" (or even do that automatically)
  • When the user presses the label changes to "Please speak now" for some seconds
  • Afterwards show/suggest a device which had input recognized

We recognize input when the speaking happens during a call, so should be possible to do this too?

If no input is recognized we can show some hints for the user:

  • Please make sure your device is connected
  • Check for a hardware switch

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start by examining the existing call audio-input recognition flow and device selection behavior; the work is done when a user can trigger or automatically run a short speaking check, receive a suggested device when input is detected, and see helpful connection or hardware guidance when it is not.
